Getting paid
How do I get paid?+
Sales arrive in your Skilldera wallet automatically. When you have at least 5,000 XAF, you request a payout from your creator dashboard. The money is sent directly to your registered Mobile Money number (MTN or Orange) — no bank account needed, no card, no international wire.
When funds are in my wallet, what are the withdrawal fees?+
Free plan: flat 200 XAF per payout. Pro plan: flat 100 XAF per payout. Premium plan: 100 XAF per payout with same-day processing. We never take a percentage of your wallet — only the flat fee per withdrawal.
What is the minimum payout / withdrawal amount?+
The minimum is 5,000 XAF. Below that, your earnings continue to accumulate in your wallet until you reach the threshold. There is no maximum.
How fast are payouts processed?+
Pre-September 2026 (manual processing): within 24 hours of request. Once our company registration completes and automated payouts go live, Pro+ creators get same-day disbursement direct to MoMo via the Fapshi API.
Do you withhold tax from my earnings?+
No. You are responsible for declaring your earnings to your local tax authority. You can export a CSV of every transaction from your creator dashboard.
Mobile Money payments
How does the Mobile Money payment flow work?+
Your buyer clicks "Buy now" → enters their MTN or Orange Money phone number → receives a prompt on their phone → enters their MoMo PIN to approve. The platform confirms with Fapshi and grants instant access. The whole flow takes about 60 seconds.
What payment options can customers currently pay with?+
Today: MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money via Fapshi. We deliberately built a Mobile-Money-first platform because that is how Africans actually pay. Card payments, bank transfers, and international currencies are on the roadmap but not active yet.
My payment completed but I can't access the product?+
This is rare. First, refresh the page — access is granted within seconds of payment confirmation. If still nothing, check the email associated with your account for the access link. If the issue persists, contact us with your phone number and transaction time, and we will resolve it within 2 hours.
Are there any extra fees on top of the product price?+
No. Buyers pay exactly the price the creator set, in XAF. The platform takes its commission from the creator side (15% / 10% / 8% depending on plan) — never from the buyer.
Future payment expansion
How will future multicurrency payments work?+
Our architecture already includes currency columns on every transaction (orders, products, payouts). When we expand to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, etc., creators will be able to price in NGN, GHS, KES, and more. International cards (Stripe), PayPal, and bank rails will be added in V6+, but only when each market is mature enough to support them well.
When will Stripe / PayPal / Visa be available?+
Honest answer: not until we have a critical mass of creators selling internationally. Today the platform is Mobile-Money-first because that is what serves our current users best. Premature multi-rail support would dilute the experience for the Cameroonian creators we serve now.
Will Skilldera ever charge in USD?+
Not as the primary currency, no. Optional USD pricing for creators selling to diaspora customers is on the roadmap, but XAF / XOF / NGN / GHS / KES will always be first-class citizens.
For creators
Is Skilldera really free to start?+
Yes. The Free plan has no monthly fee. You can publish up to 3 products, host videos up to 30 minutes per lesson, and accept payments immediately. We take a 15% platform fee per sale — there is no other charge.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?+
Free: 3 products max, 30-min lessons, 500 MB storage, 15% per sale. Pro (9,999 XAF/month): unlimited products, 4-hour lessons, 10 GB storage, 10% per sale, WhatsApp + email bulk messaging, custom storefront branding. You can upgrade at any time from inside your creator dashboard.
Do I need to register a business to sell on Skilldera?+
No. You can sell as an individual creator. We require KYC (a government ID + your MoMo number) before the first payout, but that is just identity verification — not a business registration requirement.
What happens to my students if I stop paying for Pro?+
Your account drops to Free, which limits you to 3 active products. But — and this is important — every student who ever bought from you keeps lifetime access to what they purchased, regardless of your subscription status. That is hard-coded into the platform and the Creator Agreement.
Can I migrate my students from another platform?+
Yes. Send us a CSV of your existing student list and we will import them with a one-click migration that delivers a welcome email branded for you. Reach out via Contact for the migration tool.
For learners
Do I need an account to buy?+
For now, yes — but the flow is fast (60 seconds with Google sign-in). Guest checkout (purchase with just an email) is coming in our next release. Either way, once you buy, the access is yours forever.
Can I get a refund?+
Yes. Skilldera has a default 14-day refund policy. Email us within 14 days of purchase, before completing more than 30% of a course or downloading a digital file. Full details on our Refund Policy page.
What if a creator deletes their account?+
Your access remains. Permanent buyer access is baked into the platform — it is not contingent on the creator staying active.
How do reviews work?+
Only verified buyers (people who completed a successful purchase) can leave star ratings and reviews on a course. This keeps the marketplace trustworthy.
